Privé Media has done it again! Another mighty tasty fest and this time, with Tacos! with a whisper of Sliders. There were around 1400 tickets sold in advance and a ton at the door. Some of the proceeds of this event also went to help the Ottawa Food Bank.
These are some of the offerings from last night. There was no way I could fit them all into my belly, so here are the ones I ate. I regret not being able to try them all! Prices range between $3-$5 per taco or slider. However the norm was usually either $3 for 1 or 2 for $5.
Gongfu Bao (Elgin & Slater) teamed up with Pho you, Pho me and had a bao taco versus bao slider off! One of the best offerings of the night.
The Piggy Market (located in Westboro – 400 Winston Ave) had an Ox Tail taco. Nice and tender meat. Great flavour!
A company called True on Flavour had two tacos. One pork, one shrimp.
Both were bright in flavour. I could have eaten about a dozen of these…Who doesn’t like a good chimichurri?
DJ mixing the beats…
Green Papaya (4 locations) had three different protein options to add to their Pad Thai tacos.
We opted for the chicken and my friend then added scoops of peanuts. As far as I was told, everything tastes better with peanuts.
Zest (45 Laval St, Gatineau) a catering and gourmet sandwich shop, had one delicious taco!
Burrito Borracho (105 Clarence St) was offering gluten free tacos. One pork, one chicken. Cute display too, but I don’t understand why the pig had two sets of eyebrows?
Moments Culinaires had one taco and one slider. By this time I was getting pretty full, so I just had the taco. Smoked duck with BBQ sauce, crispy skin and wild garlic salsa in a hard taco cup.
Although not a taco, it could be considered a slider of sorts… a donut-ice cream slider. Hot Cream Holes was serving up three flavours – Plain Jane, Sweet Salty Sue and Ivana S’more.
