Every year Ottawa Sparks Street hosts an amazing delicious event – RIBFEST.
Ribs, beef and pork, BBQ chicken and Pulled Pork go head to head in towns all around North America.
Government workers and private business employees alike like up at lunch time all week long trying different BBQ places who claim they are the best in town. With banners and trophies lining their booths, the smokey smell of BBQ just fills your nose and make you crave the next and the next and the next…
We came up with a way to try all of them in two days. With you and 3 others, you order 1/3 rack (4 ribs = $9). You each get a rib, and onto the next place for your next 1/3 rack. We learned pretty quickly which one was out favorite and which one we’ll be going to next year.
We rated each place on appearance, tenderness/texture and taste. Rating of 9 being excellent, 5 being average and 2 being bad. I am happy to report none of the ones we tasted rated a 2 in any category in our opinion.
Our favorite was Boss Hog. They looked appetizing, tenderness was wicked, they fell right off the bone and their sauce was a perfect. (picture really doesn’t do them justice)
We ended up tasting 8 out of 15. We could have got a couple more in, however some of the places gave us more than the 1/3 rack we request 🙂
