S’more Brownies

I say you could make these any ol’ day you’d like, not just on National S’mores Day (August 10th) or on camping trips with the family!

Brownie Mix

This is another simple, quick and easy brownie recipe that makes delighting guests and kids a delicious task.

into the pan

I picked up one of my favorite prepackaged brownie mixes, Betty Crocker Chocolate Chunk Brownies to make this treat. I figured the extra chocolate chunks couldn’t hurt, right? Of course not! 🙂

Chocolate

delicious trifecta

After following the instructions on box to make the batter, I baked for 15 minutes. I took out the pan from the oven and added all the s’more components! I baked for another 15-30 minutes, depending on size of pan. I think mine needed more cooking time as my batter had the extra chocolate chunks!

ready for the oven again

I let mine sit for a bit, an hour or two, before I cut into it as I find that the goo of the brownie doesn’t ooze out as much and contains itself in it’s square.

S’more Brownies

Prep Time: 10 minutes     Cook Time: 30 to 40 minutes     Cool Time: 2 hours

Ingredients:

Your favorite brownie mix or homemade recipe

2 cups marshmallows

6 graham crackers, broken up

6 oz semi-sweet chocolate

Directions:

Preheat oven to the temperature on the back of the box (usually 350 degrees F). Butter an 8 x 8 baking pan. Add a strip of parchment extending it up over two sides and butter or spray with pam.

Mix up the batter as per the box mix instructions and add the batter to the pan.

Bake for 15 minutes.

While it’s baking, chop of the chocolate and break up with graham crackers. Add both to a bowl with the marshmallows and put aside until brownies are ready.

When the brownies come out of the oven, empty the bowl  of chocolate, crackers and marshmallows over the half baked brownies. Try and spread out evenly.

Place back in the oven and bake for another 15-25 minutes. Checking it at the 15 minute mark. If the centre still wiggles like it is raw, add the last 10 minutes to the bake time.

Once baked, let cool 30 minutes before using the parchment to lift out onto a cooling rack or cutting board.

After about another hour or two, cut into squares and enjoy!
