It’s perfect for when you have unexpected guests and you have nothing to serve with the coffee or tea, or just because they taste so darn delicious!

I’m in love with the Mayan Chocolate Ice Cream by Haagen-Dazs. I will admit that I may or may not have eaten a whole pint in one sitting because I couldn’t put the spoon down. That being said, I wanted to try and recreate it in brownie form. The results were stupendous!

No muss, no fuss… that’s this little recipe all wrapped up in an 8 x 8 square baking pan.

I grabbed one of my favorite brownie box mixes (PC Organics Chocolate Brownie Mix – So chewy and scrumcious) and added cinnamon and cayenne for a dash of heat. Please keep in mind that chili powder cannot be substituted as garlic and salt are usually added. If you do not have cayenne, but have red pepper flakes, these can be ground into cayenne.

Easy Mayan Chocolate Brownies

Prep time: 1 minute     Cook time: approx. 30 minutes     Cool time: Great warm!

Ingredients:

Your favorite brownie box mix (or your own recipe) 370 grams

½ tbsp cinnamon

¼ tsp cayenne

Directions:

Preheat oven to the temperature on the back of the box. Butter an 8 x 8 baking pan. Add a strip of parchment extending it up over two sides.

Once brownies are mixed, stir in the cinnamon and cayenne. If your brownie box mix is 565 grams, double the amount of cinnamon and cayenne.

Bake according to box or recipe instructions. Use parchment to lift out of pan.

Cool, cut and enjoy!

A light chocolate frosting would be great if you added more heat.
